The Department of Conservation Biology, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) is offering a full-time position for a postdoc focussing on:Understanding the interrelationship between connectivity and population biological processes across scales The position will complement research currently undertaken in the large-integrating EU-project SCALES “Securing the conservation of biodiversity across administrative levels and spatial, temporal, and ecological scales” and link it to the Helmholtz research program “Land use options – Strategies and Adaptation to Global Change”. The SCALES project and the Helmholtz program address inter alia the effects of climate change, land use change, fragmentation, and disturbance on biodiversity from the genetic to the ecosystem level at different spatial and temporal scales. Applied issues focus on the coherence of networks of protected areas, ensuring regional connectivity, and monitoring.Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 22.07.2011.
